Our History
Glacier Gourmet Marketing is a family-owned and operated food broker that specializes in meat, dairy, and grocery products. Our headquarters are located in Spokane Valley, WA, and we serve grocery stores throughout eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana, with an aim to expand in the future. Glacier Gourmet Marketing was created as an extension of our food distribution business, Dean’s Distributing, to provide stellar customer service and product management to enhance sales for the brands we represent and increase profits for the retailers we support.
How Long We’ve Been in Business
Glacier Gourmet Marketing was founded in 2017, but our owners and team members have the most combined experience and expertise in the meat, grocery and food service industries of any food broker in the Spokane area. Our founders, Troy and Shelly Spanu, have over 60 years of combined experience, and our team members add another 60+ years of expertise. Our food distribution side, Dean’s Distributing, was founded in 2002 by Dean R. Hoeck and purchased by Troy and Shelly in 2021. Our vision is to continue growing and expanding to serve more brands and retailers in the food industry.
History of Troy and Shelly
Troy and Shelly both spent decades working in the food industry, paths that eventually brought them together as both business and marriage partners. Troy worked in the industry for almost 30 years with large food distributors in Oregon before moving to Spokane and joining Dean’s Distributing. Shelly was born and raised in the dairy industry and joined the meat distribution world in 1997. In 2003, she joined Dean’s Distributing. As coworkers, Troy and Shelly established Glacier Gourmet Marketing in 2017. In 2019, they were married and eventually purchased Dean’s in 2021. The combination of Glacier Gourmet Marketing and Dean’s Distributing, with our extensive knowledge and experience, offers the best service and products for the retailers we serve and brands that our team represents.
